Last Friday, the Caudry factory, which manufactures Buitoni brand pizzas, reopened.

It is in this factory that the pizzas of the "Fraîch'up" brand were produced.

At the beginning of the year, after having consumed it, a dozen children were hospitalized and two died.

All were contaminated with the bacterium Escherichia coli.

A resumption of production which angers parents, like Ophélie, whose son Manoé was infected last February.

A poignant testimony.

That of Ophélie, the mother of little Manoé.

Her 7-year-old boy was infected with Escherichia coli bacteria.

In question, a "Fraîch'up" pizza from Buitoni made in the Caudry factory, in the North, which restarted last Friday.

A partial reopening which does not concern the range of pizzas in question.

An investigation by the Paris prosecutor's office is still ongoing for manslaughter after the death of two children.

A dozen were also hospitalized.

Serious cases that do not prevent the resumption of production.

What provoke the anger of the mother of the family.

"We want answers"

"The trial should have taken place, we should have had the answers to our questions, we should have had explanations before this factory reopens. We have had no feedback from Nestlé. We have not back to the investigations that had been made at the factory, we have absolutely nothing. Nothing has changed and we are reopening as if nothing had happened", regrets Ophélie at the microphone of Europe 1.

“These are children who are 7-8 years old and who will have kidney, brain and intestinal damage for life. No, it's not trivial, it's not a little gastro that they caught last year. We want answers to find out how these pizzas could have been contaminated and what is the real reason. Reopen like this, without anyone having been condemned beforehand, without there being any sanction taken, it seems unfair to us in fact”, concludes the mother of the family.

His 7-year-old son, infected after eating a Buitoni pizza, was hospitalized for almost a month, including 12 days in intensive care.

If the little boy is better today, he could have lifelong sequelae, especially in the kidneys.

"This restart follows a process of several months, in consultation with the authorities, to meet detailed specifications on the security of our supplies, our products and on a plan to modernize the plant", said his side reacted Nestlé.
