As Khomyakov explained, there is an opinion that exposure to the light of blue garlands has an extremely negative effect on vision, and even damage to the retina can allegedly develop.

However, according to the ophthalmologist, this is not the case.

“The intensity of the luminous flux of blue garlands is extremely low, even with many hours of exposure to such light, damage will not develop due to the powerful antioxidant system of the retina, which neutralizes the free radicals formed when exposed to short-wave radiation,” the specialist said.

At the same time, according to him, the garlands, like any other sources of short-wave blue light, should be turned off two hours before bedtime.

Or you can reduce the content of short-wavelength blue-violet light in them so as not to disturb circadian biorhythms, Khomyakov advised.

In addition, as the doctor emphasized, the flickering factor of the LEDs and the pulsation of the light flux can adversely affect people who are prone to epileptic seizures.

He also warned that non-certified string lights could be potentially dangerous as a source of electrical shock and even start a fire due to a short circuit.

“It is advisable to use garlands in one place, for example, on a Christmas tree, and not hang all the walls and ceiling with them.

Or the impact of such total lighting with garlands should not exceed a couple of hours, ”concluded the interlocutor of RT.
