One person was killed on Sunday and eight others were injured in Ukrainian strikes against the Russian region of Belgorod, bordering Ukraine, the governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on Telegram.

According to him, the shots targeted Belgorod, the regional capital as well as a district located nearby.

“One person was killed,” he said, adding that it was a man from another Russian region who traveled to Belgorod to work on the construction of a new workshop. from a local poultry farm.

This farm was hit by the strikes on Sunday, one of its buildings having been partially destroyed, according to photos released by Vyacheslav Gladkov.

The windows of several buildings were smashed and 14 houses were damaged, according to the governor.

Localities and infrastructure in the region very frequently come under fire, often fatal, attributed by Moscow to the Ukrainian army.

Belgorod was also directly bombed several times.

Sergei Shoigu "inspected the Russian forces deployed in the area of ​​the special military operation", including going to the front line to speak with soldiers, the statement said.

The military officials on the spot also presented him with reports on the current situation on the ground and the actions of the Russian forces, according to the same source.

The press release does not specify when this trip took place, but its announcement comes two days after a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the leaders of the Russian operation in Ukraine, including Mr. Shoigu.
