Along a couple of cycle and pedestrian paths in both cities, there are now traffic signs that are illuminated directly on the road.

- The snow causes it, so we are testing this to facilitate cycling in the winter, says Joakim Sundén, traffic engineer at Luleå Municipality.

The municipality of Skellefteå has received a government grant for the test, which Norran was the first to tell about.

Each projector costs approximately SEK 20,000.

With a normal electricity price, they would have cost the municipality a couple of thousand a year in electricity costs.

Now there can be a cost of up to SEK 8,000 for the 21 signs in Skellefteå.

In the clip, you can see how the residents of Skellefteå react to the glowing traffic signs.
