Yesterday, the "My Blood for My Country" campaign continued to receive donors from various nationalities in the Global Village in Dubai, on the second day of the campaign organized by the "Emirates Today" newspaper, the Dubai Health Authority, and the Secretary's Service. The campaign continues on Monday and Wednesday of each week throughout the week. This season, with the aim of collecting the largest number of blood units, in addition to providing educational and awareness services to village visitors about the importance of blood donation.

The campaign succeeded in collecting 140 blood units on its second day, in light of the keenness of donors from citizens and residents to come to the Global Village to donate blood with the opening of the doors of the Global Village, as they assured Emirates Today that their interest in participating in the campaign comes from their belief in the important societal role it has. In supporting patients in need of blood, and providing a strategic stockpile that contributes to saving the lives of thousands of them, in addition to the advantages that donation provides for human health and the renewal of blood cells.

The campaign provides two medically equipped buses, in addition to a highly qualified medical staff, to receive donors, and those who have any general inquiries about the campaign and the importance of blood donation, to provide them with the necessary support.

The President and Medical Director of the Dubai Blood Donation Center, Dr. Mai Yassin Raouf, said: “The campaign ended in its second day with the collection of 140 units of blood, as there was a large turnout of donors of different nationalities and age groups, and a large number of Global Village employees and visitors flocked, and an increase in the number of Young people who are ready to donate, which is a positive sign, as young people are the main base for blood supply in the future.

She added to "Emirates Today": "The campaigns contribute to spreading awareness and culture about the importance of blood donation, as the medical staff participating in the campaign provide information to visitors about the importance of blood donation, its benefits and conditions."

For its part, "Emirates Today" confirmed that the "My Blood for My Country" campaign is of great importance as it provides blood units for critically ill cases, people with chronic diseases, such as cancer and dialysis, and people who have been injured in severe accidents and need blood to save their lives.

She pointed out that she has been participating in organizing the campaign since its first day in 2012, and harnesses all capabilities to support it year after year, so that the initiative becomes a renewable artery for pumping blood units in hospitals and health centers, which meets any need for patients and injured.

Emirates Today, through its website, digital platforms, and paper edition, contributes to spreading awareness of the importance of blood donation, and explains the great return of each donation in saving three sick and injured people.

The newspaper invites community members, citizens and residents of various nationalities, to participate in the initiative to donate blood, as part of giving back to the homeland, and as an affirmation of the human values ​​rooted in UAE society.
