The police in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales) received a rather original call overnight from Friday to Saturday.

Around 4 a.m., they were alerted to the presence of a donkey walking in the middle of a departmental road, reports

L'Indépendant

.

The fleeing animal was frightened by passing cars.

Once there, the police had one objective: to catch the equine before it reached the fast lane.

However.

The donkey gave them a hard time.

He charged the officers before fleeing.

After several attempts, the five teams of officials finally managed to capture him.

They tied him to a car, having no other means of transporting him.

But even by driving very slowly so as not to injure him, the donkey ended up exhausting himself.

He couldn't go any further.

Once again deadlocked, the police were able to take advantage of the help of USAP rugby players who were returning from a match.

It was therefore early in the morning and after a night full of twists and turns that the equine was placed in a field by a local resident.
