Tunisia elections.. 52 thousand cast their votes during the first hour of polling

A member of the electoral commission in Tunisia said today, Saturday, that 52,000 voters went to the polling stations before the first hour had passed since the start of voting.

Member Maher al-Jedidi said, in a statement to public television, that 52,000 voters cast their ballots within the first 50 minutes since the opening of polling stations at eight in the morning local time (7 GMT).

More than 9.2 million voters are entitled to vote in the parliamentary elections, which will continue until six o'clock in the evening.

The turnout at polling stations was slow in the first morning, but the head of the electoral commission, Farouk Bouaskar, expected a gradual improvement as the day progressed.
