For the past few days, snow has covered the cabins of the Strasbourg Christmas market.

An image worthy of a postcard, which delights Strasbourg residents and tourists alike.

But in the aisles of the market, visitors are fewer, as traders regret, who fear for their business.

Europe 1 went to meet them.

It's already the last weekend of Strasbourg's famous Christmas market.

A real postcard with the film of snow that has settled on the sidewalks in recent days.

A bit of Christmas magic.

The 300 huts of the Christmas market covered with a beautiful layer of snow.

The picture is beautiful.

It delights many tourists and people from Strasbourg.

"It reinforces the image of Christmas"

"Ah yes, it really feels like Christmas," rejoices a visitor.

"I think it adds an extra dimension to the buildings. It sets the mood and maybe it's a little slippery with the melted snow, but that's good," smiles a tourist.

"An Alsatian grew up with the snow, so here he knows that in winter, you have to be careful with the snow. On the Christmas market, it's great. It reinforces the image of Christmas that we have all known when we were kids. Then a Christmas without snow, it's not really a Christmas", advances a Strasbourg resident.

Fewer visitors to the market

On the other hand, for traders, the snow is not really good for business.

"Since Monday, it's been really extremely cold. People don't want to go out anymore," notes a saleswoman.

A finding shared by another market trader.

"They clump together in restaurants. We don't see them when there is snow," she laments.

"I think the cold and the fact that it slips, it must discourage people from coming to the market," says a third.
