Sisi in Washington

On Thursday, the Egyptian presidency announced the agreement of Cairo and Washington to strengthen military relations and find a solution to the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

This came during two separate meetings between the Egyptian President and US Secretary of Defense and State Austin Lloyd and Anthony Blinken, on the sidelines of Sisi's participation in the US-African summit in Washington.

According to the Egyptian presidency, Sisi met the US Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon headquarters, and affirmed his country's keenness to support its strategic partnership with the United States.

The Egyptian President also met with the US Secretary of State, and the meeting discussed the importance of supporting efforts for a solution that achieves the interests of all parties in the issue of the Renaissance Dam, which Ethiopia has been building for more than a decade, amid disputes with Egypt and Sudan, regarding concerns over their water share in the Nile River.
