A non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and recently chaired the G20, India wants to make its voice heard on the international scene.

On Thursday, the foreign minister responded to a Pakistani journalist who asked how long New Delhi, Kabul and Islamabad would tolerate terrorism in Asia.

Jaishankar displayed the sarcasm that has become his signature mark: “

You are asking the wrong foreign minister.

»

It is Pakistan's who will be able to tell you how long his country intends to continue to practice terrorism.

You no longer deceive anyone by confusing the debate.

I advise Pakistan to clean up its territory.

Statements widely reported in the press.

New Delhi has long claimed that Pakistan tolerates armed Islamist groups on its soil on purpose.

When the Taliban took over Afghanistan, India blamed Islamabad for harboring them.

The Indian Foreign Minister also spoke out against the "

dark role

" of certain countries against terrorism, implicitly targeting China, accused by New Delhi of passivity in the region.

India also took this opportunity to submit a new candidacy for membership of the UN Security Council for the period 2028-2029.
