Muslim Sages: The Human Fraternity Document represents the most important event in the history of interreligious relations
The Secretary-General of the Council of Muslim Elders, Counselor Muhammad Abdel Salam, affirmed that the Abu Dhabi Document for Human Fraternity represented the culmination of interfaith dialogue, in addition to being one of the most important steps taken towards establishing peace in our modern history, stressing that dialogue between followers of different religions and cultures is one of the most important issues that must be addressed. Focusing on them, especially in light of the challenges the world is witnessing today that have serious impacts on the humanitarian situation.
Counselor Abdel Salam said, in his speech during the opening session of the Seventh International Conference on Dialogue between Cultures and Religions and Building Bridges towards Peace;
Held in the Czech Republic in the presence of officials, thinkers and ambassadors of the Group of Islamic Cooperation Countries, the Document of Human Fraternity signed by His Eminence Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Elders, and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Head of State, represents the most important event in the history of interreligious relations in modern human history.
The Secretary-General stated that from this moment a common will emerged to guide future generations to follow the path of peaceful coexistence, and the human fraternity project emerged, which transformed mere words on paper into real actions in our societies, and the content of the document is now being taught in school curricula around the world, and students have become Every day, in classrooms around the world, they learn about the values of human fraternity, while a number of countries have included the document in their school curricula, and some have considered it a national declaration.
Counselor Abdel Salam added that the day of signing the document has also become an international day that we celebrate every year.
Where the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Document of Human Fraternity, and issued a resolution defining February 4 as the annual International Day of Human Fraternity, and one of the exploits of the document was also that it inspired the launch of an international award known as the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity, which is a global award that celebrates and supports individuals and organizations who They embody the values of human brotherhood, as the award honored and supported the efforts of senior leaders and community activists.
The Secretary-General pointed out that the Council of Muslim Elders was - and still is - calling for peaceful coexistence in its meetings with senior representatives of governments and active organizations between governments.
by urging officials to prefer peace over conflict, and to pursue diplomacy based on religion;
that integrate the dynamics of religious belief into international peace-building efforts to achieve reconciliation between parties to conflicts.
Counselor Abdel Salam pointed out that the Human Fraternity Document represents a new page written in the book of humanity, and a new beginning in which cooperation replaces conflict, and knowledge prevails over prejudice, thanking the parties responsible for organizing this conference.
