The Georges-Braque college, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, achieved 20% energy savings between 2020 and 2021. In the age of energy sobriety, the students drew and stuck posters on the walls to encourage to eco-gestures.

Energy savings even in the classrooms.

The Georges-Braque college, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, was rewarded by the winter championship for energy savings, for the efforts made by the students.

A nod to comics

“Marion, maybe you can explain, in the stairwell?” Asks Aurelia Talenti, physics-chemistry teacher and responsible for coordinating the initiative, to her student.

"I drew the Dupont brothers. There is one who says 'Turn off the light', and the other who says 'I would even say better, don't turn it back on'", describes the fourth-grade student and eco- delegated.

Marion has made drawings to encourage energy savings.

"At the top it is written 'turn on', so we imagine that it is the light which is on and we see the two bears which are separated because the ice floe is melting. And at the bottom we see 'the light is off ', the two bears are together, they are happy", continues Marion, describing this poster at the back of the science room.

20% energy saving

The objective of these drawings pasted on the walls is to save energy, while continuing to learn, explains the physics and chemistry teacher.

"In the rooms in which there are German lessons, we put it in German, we even did Latin and Greek."

For Marion, who designed most of these posters, everyone has to make an effort.

"You have to learn to do the right things, all the time, to be able to move things forward a little bit."

And the results are there, welcomes the teacher.

"We have achieved a saving of 20% (between 2020 and 2021, editor's note). We have focused on hunting for wasted electrical energy: lights, speakers, computers, video projectors", she explains. .

The next step will be to tackle the waste of heating, making sure to close the windows properly.
