Launched in 1995 on La Cinquième, “Arrêt sur images” was a pioneer in terms of deciphering images and media discourse.
The only one of its kind in the audiovisual landscape, its removal by France 5 in June 2007 had sparked an outcry, especially on the left, and an online support petition had collected more than 180,000 signatures.
The journalist said at the time that the show had been shut down because it “had been pissing off stars and broadcast bosses for years”.
He had launched two months later his site of reflection and analysis of the media (arretsurimage.net) and thus continued his flagship program online.
