Killed for safety reasons

According to an early statement from the park's information director, the animals were shot dead because there was no anesthetic to put them to sleep, but the statement was retracted.

Police reports and criticism
The police have drawn up a report of a suspected
violation of the Animal Welfare Act
, for the event that the enclosures were not sufficiently secure against escape.
A private person has reported the zoo to the police for
causing danger to others
, and the zoo has received criticism from, among other things, animal rights organizations and a former keeper.
Veterinarian Bengt Röken says that one should not take chances in difficult situations, but rather shoot, as it can be complicated to anesthetize chimpanzees.

Two chimpanzees identified
On Friday, Furuviksparken announced that
Linda and Torsten
are two of the dead chimpanzees.
The third chimpanzee that is dead is either Santino or Manda, both are two well-known and well-liked chimpanzees.
