• The new south forecourt of the railway station is inaugurated this Saturday.

  • The new esplanade is now largely devoted to pedestrians.

  • A major construction site will begin nearby: that of the multimodal exchange hub.

The regulars found the construction site endless.

In successive works for more than four years, the south forecourt of the Nantes SNCF station now displays a peaceful face.

The new esplanade, which will have cost nearly 15 million euros, will also be officially inaugurated this Saturday by Nantes Métropole.

A wide paving decorated with green spaces and circular benches welcomes pedestrians.

A long platform for busway line 5, the C3 chronobus and the C2 chronobus is in the center of the square.

Cars can no longer approach the station directly.

However, construction machinery has not yet completely deserted the sector.

At the eastern end of the forecourt, continuing on from the passenger premises, this time the construction of the huge building housing the future multimodal exchange hub is starting.

Coaches, taxis, bicycles and rental companies combined

In the basement of this seven-storey complex, there will be taxis (60 seats).

On the ground floor: the bus station with 15 coach platforms, a waiting hall and shops.

On the ground floor mezzanine: a large bicycle parking lot (1,200 spaces).

On the first and second floors, there will be car rental companies (four agencies).

The upper levels will be occupied by offices.

Delivery expected from 2025.

Just opposite the future multimodal hub, a car park reserved for short periods (95 places) will be created.

There will also be a building with nearly 130 apartments, offices and a 4-star Voco hotel with 120 rooms.

Finally, on the ground floor, residents will have access to a "food hall" and a health center.

Delivery scheduled for 2025.

Redevelopment work must also continue on the Quai de Malakoff until July 2023. A car drop-off line has, for the moment, been created on the Quai Saint-Félix, as well as a temporary station for cabs.
