The Madrid City Council alerted citizens this Saturday about

the "documentary falsification and alleged fraud" of some photocopies that pretend to be traffic tickets

placed on the windshields of some vehicles in the capital.

According to the City Council, for now, several fraudulent fines placed on vehicles in the Carabanchel district have been detected.

On the front side of the false fine, the piece of paper shows a logo of the City Council in the header, an alleged infraction key, reported fact, infringed precept, amount of the sanction, the amount with the reduction for prompt payment, a QR code and a reference.

"The code refers to the City Council's penalty payment website without the recipient being able to make the payment. In addition, the back of the fraudulent fine is blank," explained the Madrid consistory.

The City Council warns that

"no report bulletin from the Municipal Police, Mobility Agents or controllers of the Regulated Parking Service (SER) incorporates QR codes."

They added, so that users can detect fraudulent mutations, that "in addition, other more detailed sections are included in the bulletins than those shown in the false sanction."

For the safety of citizens who find this photocopy in their vehicle, the City Council warns that, in no case, should said QR be scanned, since "any notification

of a sanction imposed by agents of the authority is sent by certified mail or by the electronic street address".

Finally, the Municipal Police will initiate proceedings for a possible crime of document falsification and fraud.

It has already been brought to the attention of the computer services of the Madrid City Council.
