According to TASS, Macron stated this following the results of the summit of the states of the south of the European Union.

“We need to develop a strong European response to this law over the coming months,” the French leader stressed.

Macron expects that the answer should be ready before the end of the first quarter of 2023.

He also spoke about the need for the European industry to be competitive against the backdrop of measures developed by Washington.

Earlier, MEPs called for a tough course on the United States because of the law to reduce inflation.

Bloomberg also reported that European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton refused to visit the United States to attend a summit on trade and technology due to ignoring Europe's problems.

Prior to this, Breton said that the European Union would be forced to retaliate against the US law "to reduce inflation", the provisions of which are contrary to the norms of the World Trade Organization.
