Fees should attract more people to participate in the youth council

During the autumn, the municipal council clubbed through new conditions for elected officials in Karlstad municipality.

This meant, among other things, that members of the youth council receive a meeting fee.

A conscious investment to attract more young people to municipal politics.

- We already know that many who sit in youth councils choose to get involved in political parties, become committed citizens or choose to take up employment within the municipality and the region, says Linda Larsson (S).

Meeting places for young people important issue

Matilda Glaas and Alexander Rydberg are both chairpersons of the youth council.

Their most important issues are meeting places for young people and that cycle paths should be prioritized when new areas are built and planned.

- It is an opportunity for us young people to have our voice heard, says Matilda Glaas.
