The flu prevents Meloni from attending the Euro-Mediterranean summit

Italian Prime Minister Giorga Meloni's office said today, Friday, that she will not attend the summit of southern European Union countries in the Spanish city of Alicante today, Friday, after she contracted the flu, and that her place will be taken by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

The group of nine European countries bordering the Mediterranean includes Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Slovenia and Croatia.

At the Alicante meeting, which European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel are to attend, the leaders are set to discuss a time frame for building a new hydrogen pipeline and ways to finance it.
