Close to a hundred thousand migrants have reached Italy's shores or ports this year.

In the port town of Roccella Jonica, volunteers from the Red Cross work almost constantly to take care of the migrants who have come across the sea.

- In the last two, three years, the increase in the number of migrants coming here has been avalanche-like, says Concetta Gioffré from the Red Cross.

It is intensive work, but perhaps the migrants can also be the salvation for the emigration region of Calabria, in southern Italy, where few are born and many move.

Come along to the mountain village of Camini where empty houses are now being inhabited and schools are reopening.
