For its 90th anniversary, the Grand Rex had the right to an in-depth renovation.

"After several months of work, the new facade will be unveiled to the public [this Thursday] on the occasion of an exceptional evening", announces the press release.

We will find there the Féérie des eaux and its ballet of water jets, the preview screening of the latest Steven Spielberg

The Fabelmans

as well as a surprise guest.

This evening will launch a year of festivities to celebrate the anniversary of cinema.

On the program, continues the press release, “exceptional previews, marathons, guided tours as well as major concerts and shows, including Garou, Kyle Eastwood, Nick Cave, Robert Charlebois”.

Concerning the renovation of the cinema built in 1932 and led by the architects Grichka Martinetti and Stéphane Thomasson, it had the ambition to reconnect with the glorious first years of the Grand Rex.

The original color of the facade has thus been found and restored, as has the large original canopy in bolted sheet metal, a sort of canopy overhanging the entrance.

In addition, "the large sign has regained its place on the roof of the Grand Rex, now the only rotating sign in all of Paris".

Finally, the interior has also benefited from a facelift.

Thus “the large hall has been completely redecorated, with in particular the installation of marble on the floor, reminiscent of the original floor”.

But renovation also rhymes with innovation and “a brand new laser projector has been installed to offer the best possible experience to spectators”.
