An FBI agent shot and killed a man at a subway station in the middle of Washington, DC, the capital of the United States.

Police said the man who died attacked the FBI agent first, and the two men argued and wrestled and wallowed.

An FBI agent then pulled out a gun and shot him.

Witnesses said that when gunshots rang, many citizens on the way home from work waiting for the train at the platform fell on the floor and escaped through the exit.

Police called the FBI agent a "veteran" and said he also suffered minor injuries.

The identities of the two have not yet been released.

The FBI said in a statement, "We take seriously the shooting involving one of our agents."

Police are also investigating whether the shooting was legal.

Previously, in 2020, an FBI agent in the subway shot and injured a man who was arguing with him, and was handed over to trial for attempted second-degree murder.

However, the FBI agent who claimed to have shot in defense of a threat was recently acquitted.
