The Czech Presidency of the European Union announced on Thursday that it had granted Croatia entry into the Schengen area.

However, it rejected Romania's and Bulgaria's membership applications, according to diplomatic sources.

Croatia got the green light on Thursday to enter the Schengen area of ​​free movement from January 1, 2023, the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU announced.

Croatia had previously announced on Twitter that it had obtained this green light.

European Interior Ministers meeting in Brussels approved the accession of Croatia, which becomes the 27th member of this vast area within which more than 400 million people can travel freely, without internal border controls.
