Olivier Dubois has been held somewhere in northern Mali since April 8, 2021. The French journalist, who worked for Liberation, Le Point and Jeune Afrique in particular, has been in captivity for 20 months.

His partner Déborah delivered this message to him, broadcast on the antennas of RFI and France 24: “Olivier, I hope you are well. We are hanging on, always thanks to you and the love we have. wears you. Gigi has braces, she has an overall average of 16.3. That's to make you proud. Sael wears glasses. Everyone keeps telling him that he has the same face as you. I'm doing very well in reading. And I'm here, I don't lose confidence or hope."

It is impossible for the moment to know his conditions of detention.

We know that he went to interview a jihadist leader in Gao, in northern Mali.

He has since been held hostage by the Jnim (according to the Arabic acronym) the Support Group for Islam and Muslims, affiliated with Al-Qaeda.

Olivier Dubois appeared in two videos, two proofs of life, in which he explains himself to be in the hands of this group linked to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

Pending his release, France 24 has undertaken to send him messages every 8th of the month.
