China News Service, December 7 (Xinhua) According to Reuters, the United States and the United Kingdom announced on the 7th the establishment of an energy partnership aimed at exporting more liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the United Kingdom and cooperating to improve energy efficiency.

Britain and other European countries have turned to U.S. natural gas to reduce their reliance on Russian energy since the situation in Russia and Ukraine worsened in February.

"This partnership will bring down prices for British consumers and help end Europe's dependence on Russian energy," Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said in a statement.

In addition, the "Anglo-US Energy Security and Affordability Partnership" will promote both sides' investment in clean energy and exchange views on energy efficiency and reduction of natural gas demand.

Reuters reported that data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration showed that the United States will become the world's largest exporter of liquefied natural gas in the first half of 2022 due to rapidly increasing export capacity and high prices.

Under the agreement, the U.S. aims to export 9 billion to 10 billion cubic meters of LNG next year, maintaining this year's export growth, Britain said.

In the first 11 months of 2022, Britain has already imported about 11 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the United States, up from 4 billion cubic meters in 2021, according to data from financial data service Refinitiv Eikon.
