Two birds, found dead last week in a park in Crépy-en-Valois (Oise), had avian flu.

The suspicion was confirmed on Tuesday by analyzes carried out by the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations, reports

Le Parisien

.

New examinations must be performed to determine the variant involved.

This will make it possible to know whether the strain, which contaminated the coot and the goose, is "low or highly pathogenic" according to Murielle Wolski, second deputy mayor.

The results are expected to be released on Wednesday.

Two possible scenarios

Two scenarios are considered.

Either the sick animals will be slaughtered and the others placed in confinement.

Either all the birds occupying the park will be killed.

This concerns the thirteen geese and the hundred ducks of the site but also wild animals, such as swans, which are often observed there by walkers.

In the meantime, the park is closed for 21 days by prefectural decision.
