Trump responds to the decision to condemn his family's company for tax evasion

Former US President Donald Trump, who announced his candidacy for the 2024 elections, considered that the decision to convict his family company of financial and tax fraud falls within the framework of a "campaign of persecution" against him, and he will file an appeal against the verdict.

In a statement titled "The Witch Hunt," Trump said the judicial system "has been going through millions of pages of documents for many years while murders and violence are at record levels in New York."

"We do not agree with this ruling and will file an appeal," Susan Nickellis, a lawyer for the Trump Organization, said in a statement, a copy of which was received by Agence France-Presse.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement that it was the first criminal law ruling against the Trump group.

He added, "Trump's two companies have evaded the law for 13 years by giving high-level executives generous benefits and compensation while deliberately hiding these benefits from the tax authorities to avoid paying taxes."

Donald Trump faces a number of lawsuits, but no charges have been filed against him yet.
