The town hall of Paimpol (Côtes-d'Armor) is angry.

During the night from Sunday to Monday, the Christmas lights and decorations were degraded in several places in the city, reports La Presse d'Armor.

According to the municipal police, the wires that supplied the decorations were cut in a large part of the city center.

The amount of damage could reach 20,000 euros.

According to the municipality, which will file a complaint, the decorations cannot be repaired in time for the end of year celebrations.

“It is clear that stupidity has no limit for some people, and that pseudo-militant acts have a good back.

These degradations are not up to any militant commitment, ”commented the elected officials of the municipal council.

In a press release, the City recalls having taken the decision to install LED decorations to “limit the impact of rising energy costs” on its budget.

"Maintaining the Christmas lights for the end of the year helped to offer a little magic and dream in a difficult and uncertain period", wrote the elected officials.
