China is letting go of its "zero Covid" policy.

Beijing announced on Wednesday December 7 a general relaxation of health rules against Covid-19, authorizing certain positive cases to carry out their quarantine at home and reducing its use of generalized PCR tests.

According to the new instructions unveiled by the National Health Commission (NHC) – which has the value of a ministry –, “asymptomatic infected people and mild cases who can be isolated at home will generally be isolated” and the country will “further reduce the scope of nucleic acid testing and decrease its frequency".
