An airfield in Russia's Kursk region, which borders Ukraine, was attacked by a drone, the local governor said.

It comes a day after the Russian government blamed Ukraine for drone strikes on two other Russian military airfields.

According to AFP, Governor Roman Starovoit said on his social media, "The fuel storage tank at the Kursk airfield was set on fire as a result of a drone attack."

However, it did not specify who was behind the drone attack.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said the previous day that Ukraine carried out air strikes on two airfields in the Ryazan and Saratov provinces with Soviet-made drones.

The drone was shot down, but debris fell on the airfield and exploded, killing three soldiers and injuring four others, the Ministry of Defense added.
