It was just before 11pm on Friday that the police were alerted to a fight at the railway station in Karlshamn.
In connection with the fight, the man in his 20s allegedly attacked a man of the same age with a stabbing or cutting weapon.
According to the police, no one was injured in the altercation.
The man was arrested on Saturday and is now in custody - but has been released at large even though the suspicions against him remain, several local media say.
Initially, the case was classified as attempted murder, now the man is suspected of assault.
