The forces of the "Declaration of Freedom and Change" in Sudan announced on Friday that the civil and military parties had agreed to sign the political framework agreement next Monday.

A statement issued by the forces (formerly the ruling coalition) stated in a statement that a meeting took place on Friday evening that included representatives of the forces that signed the political declaration (last month) with the army commander, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, “Hemedti.”

And those forces - according to the statement - are: the Forces for Freedom and Change, the Sudanese Revolutionary Front, the Democratic Unionist Party of origin, and the People's Congress.

The statement added that the meeting came with an international and regional presence, led by the tripartite mechanism and ambassadors of the Quartet, Troika and the European Union.

And he added that the meeting discussed the readiness of the Sudanese parties to start signing the framework political agreement that establishes a transitional civil authority, "to assume the burdens of implementing the tasks of the glorious December revolution and completing the path towards achieving its goals."

The statement continued that the parties agreed that the signing would be next Monday, December 5, to be followed directly by the stage of completing the details of some issues with the widest participation of the forces of the revolution and stakeholders, so that the transitional constitution would be based on it and the institutions of the transitional authority would be established in a period not exceeding a few weeks.

The statement called on all the forces of the revolution to unite, arrange ranks, and integrate all the tools of peaceful political action, in a way that leads to achieving the goals of the December revolution and establishing a sustainable democratic civil transition.

In turn, Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council said - in a statement - that the signing of the framework agreement next Monday will take place in local and international presence, and paves the way for a new phase in the country.

The statement added that the Friday meeting "discussed developments in the political process, and confirmed the understandings reached that were summarized in the political framework agreement, which forms the basis for resolving the political crisis."

According to the council's statement, the agreement remains open to discussion and participation from the other parties agreed upon, to develop it in the second phase into a final agreement and transitional constitutional arrangements, within a few weeks.

This comes as a prelude to the formation of a civil authority that will lead the transitional period, leading to free and fair elections, according to the same statement.

On October 25, 2021, the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, announced exceptional measures, according to which the Sovereignty Council and the Transitional Ministers were dissolved, during which a state of emergency was declared, officials and politicians were arrested, and governors (governors) were dismissed.

Since that day, Sudan has witnessed popular protests calling for the return of civilian rule, and rejecting the exceptional measures that opponents of Al-Burhan consider a "military coup."

And before the Burhan procedures, Sudan had been living - since August 11, 2019 - a transitional phase that ends with holding elections in early 2024, during which power will be shared by the army, civil forces, and armed movements that signed a peace agreement with the government in 2020.

And on November 16, the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change in Sudan announced that they had approved a concept of a framework agreement with the military component.
