There is a shortage of 30,000 preschool teachers in the country, according to the Teachers' Union.

And the shortage is clearly felt in the county.

The municipalities' goal is to have two certified preschool teachers in each department.

But today, many departments lack preschool teachers.

Diana Dahlberg is the only preschool teacher at Änge preschool with three departments.

She is well aware that all educational planning rests on her shoulders.

Difficult to see all the children

It is the preschool teacher who is responsible for following the curriculum, for discovering children who need support and for planning conversations with guardians.

There may be a risk that children will get stuck, says Diana Dahlberg.

- There are talented staff here at the preschool, but it is easier to plan and reflect with preschool teacher colleagues, says Diana Dahlberg.

If you are responsible for many children, you may not have time to see everything.

This is why colleagues are important.

Right to support and stimulation

According to the Education Act, preschool children must be supported to develop individually so that, as far as possible, they are given the same opportunities for future learning.

The preschool in Änge has contact with the school when children are to be handed over to the preschool class.

Diana Dahlberg believes that the school notices that there is a lack of preschool teachers.

- We get feedback on what we need to do in the preschool.

For example, we may have to work more with mathematics or movement.
