After almost 10 years of experience as an opposition politician in the region, Samuel Godrén is leaving his position as regional councilor for the Sweden Democrats, Jönköpings-Posten was the first to report.

In a post on Facebook, he writes that the decision has matured during the summer and autumn.

- It has been a fantastic journey, both challenging and rewarding.

It is also demanding to be a responsible party representative and I have had that role for eight years.

Now I look forward to taking a step away from the limelight and returning to a civilian job after the New Year, writes Godrén.

However, he will remain as a member of the regional council until further notice.

Håkan Nyborg from Tranås, who has worked together with Godrén on the regional board in the past term, will now succeed him.

In the Health Care Board (FS), Maria Högberg from Nässjö will take over as the new spokesperson for the Sweden Democrats.
