Washington pushed military equipment to the port of northern Poland, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and neighbor to Ukraine, while the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had started using advanced weapons in its military operations in eastern Ukraine.

Yesterday, Sunday, US military equipment arrived at the port of Gdynia, Gdynia, in Poland, as part of a program to redeploy NATO equipment and forces.

The equipment is part of about 2,400 vehicles that arrived in Poland and Greece over the past month from the US Army's 1st Infantry Division.

Poland usually hosts about 4,000 US soldiers on rotation, part of which is part of a NATO-led combat group that was sent to the region following Russia's annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.

And with the start of the war in Ukraine since last February, US President Joe Biden pushed an additional 4,700 military personnel, in a move criticized by Moscow, which called for reducing the presence of NATO forces in Poland and the Baltic states, which were previously under the Soviet umbrella.

Advanced Russian bombers enter the war

In the opposite camp, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that it had begun using an upgraded system of multiple missile launchers known as "Tornado G".

The Ministry of Defense says that the new updates to the "Tornado G" system include an automatic guidance system that allows the crew to work from the cockpit without exposing themselves to danger, and allows the missiles to be launched less than two minutes after locating the target.

Video clips published by the Russian Ministry of Defense showed the participation of the developed system in the ongoing combat operations in Donetsk Province, eastern Ukraine.

The ministry also said that its forces launched what it called a successful attack in the Bakhmut axis, eastern Ukraine, killing more than 50 Ukrainian soldiers, and destroying 6 Ukrainian military vehicles and oil stores in Kharkiv.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian army said that it had killed and wounded Russian soldiers by bombing Melitopol, in Zaporizhia County, in the south of the country.

Neighborhoods in the city of Donetsk were also subjected to Ukrainian artillery shelling, and the local authorities said that the shelling left four wounded.

And in Kherson province in the south, the Ukrainian army confirmed the continuation of the Russian shelling, as it indicated that the entire Nikopol region, in the Dnipro canton, was subjected to Russian artillery shelling over the past hours.

500 towns without electricity

Meanwhile, an official at the Ukrainian Ministry of Interior revealed that more than 500 towns are still without electricity due to the recent Russian strikes, which severely damaged the electricity grid and energy facilities in most Ukrainian provinces.

The Ukrainian official added, in statements to local television, that the Kharkiv region is the most affected, and that about 112 of its villages have become isolated, followed by Donetsk and Kherson regions, then Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia and Luhansk.

The Ukrainian authorities called on civilians to persevere despite the deteriorating living conditions, as power outages several times a day plunge millions of Ukrainians into darkness and cold, especially with temperatures dropping below zero for several days.

Winter is used as a weapon

On the other hand, Bloomberg quoted US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken as saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin is using the winter season as a weapon against Ukrainian civilians, describing what he is doing as a "barbaric act."

And the US Secretary of State added in an interview with CNN that there is no indication that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to hold meaningful talks about reaching a settlement in the war in Ukraine.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia hopes to use the winter season against his country, but the Ukrainians have no choice but to endure and survive to get closer to victory.

Zelinsky added in his daily speech that the Ukrainian army thwarted Russian plans to seize the city of Bakhmut.
