• Two summary suspensions were examined on November 25 by the administrative court concerning Lille airport.

  • One filed by opponents of the extension project, the other filed by Aéroport de Lille.

  • The decisions, made on Monday, all go in the direction of the airport.

SAS Lille airport passes the roadblocks.

This Monday, the administrative court issued two decisions in favor of the Lille airport modernization project.

One dismisses the associations of opponents of their request for suspension of the environmental authorization.

The other gives reason to the Lille airport company against two municipalities which had suspended the building permit.

The two motions were filed in early November and were heard on the same day, November 25.

The first was a referral filed by the associations Nord nature environnement, No to the expansion of the airport and France and Nature environnement Hauts-de-France.

This request aimed to suspend the environmental authorization granted by the prefect for the expansion of Lille airport.

The associations considered in particular that the information provided to the public was incomplete and that the study of the impact on water resources was insufficient.

No doubt on one side, effective urgency on the other

On this point, the judge in chambers considered for his part that none of the arguments put forward by the associations "is likely to create serious doubt as to the legality of the contested order".

It therefore dismissed the applicants' request for suspension of the environmental permit.

Lille Airport was the instigator of the second petition, filed against the municipalities of Fretin and Lesquin, which had refused, last June, to sign the building permit.

The dispute related, among other things, to the creation of a new car park.

For its part, the airport considers it urgent to carry out work to avoid the saturation of the infrastructure, in particular “the areas dedicated to border police controls or filter inspections”.

An argument "of public interest" which convinced the judge in chambers, who ordered the two municipalities to re-examine the application for a building permit "within one month".
