The Israeli Prime Minister-designate, Benjamin Netanyahu, is working on forming a right-wing government, amid severe criticism inside Israel. At the same time, the occupation army continues to carry out its incursions into West Bank cities under the pretext of pursuing wanted persons.
The caretaker prime minister in Israel, Yair Lapid, attacked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing him as a "thug" who spouts his poison and incites.
Netanyahu had accused Lapid of inciting army officers and mayors to revolt.
"I have been chosen to lead the State of Israel, and I intend to carry out this mission in the spirit of national and democratic principles," the Israeli prime minister-designate said - in a message via Twitter.
Netanyahu added, "I strongly condemn Lapid's attempts to incite army officers and mayors to rebel against the elected government under our leadership," considering that "Labid's behavior is dangerous and harmful to democracy."
In the context, the far-right Itamar Ben Gvir confirmed - during a speech in the Knesset - his determination to pass a bill that would grant immunity to Israeli army soldiers and police personnel.
The Likud party and the "Jewish Greatness" party had reached an agreement that Ben Gvir would take over the national security portfolio in the upcoming Israeli government.
For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz sharply criticized Netanyahu's decision.
Gantz asked - in a tweet on Twitter - "National security, or the dismantling of security into parts of the forces and the establishment of a private army for Ben Gvir?"
