In the appeal, the legislator noted that, according to media reports, only during the last year in Russia there were several cases in which smoking electronic cigarettes provoked the death of a minor citizen.

Experts, including foreign ones, have repeatedly drawn attention to the false claims of electronic cigarette manufacturers that they are safer than traditional tobacco products.

Medical studies in recent years have shown that smoking electronic cigarettes damages the lungs, provokes asthma symptoms, and has a negative effect on the cardiovascular system.

At the same time, if online trading in traditional tobacco products is prohibited in Russia, then electronic cigarettes and their elements — heating systems, nicotine salt cartridges, evaporators, etc. — can now be ordered with delivery on large online marketplaces, Khamzaev noted.

“In this regard, I ask you to consider introducing a ban on the sale of electronic cigarettes and their individual components in the Russian Federation through online trading platforms,” the text of the appeal reads.

Earlier it became known that the federal government introduces labeling of liquids for vapes from December 15th.
