Last spring, the City Mission's food center opened in a large warehouse in Tornby in Linköping.

Here, food companies can donate food that would otherwise be thrown away.

It is then distributed to people living in food poverty.

- We have got off to a good start but would like to see more donors, says Peder Barrling, operational manager at the City Mission in Linköping.

High capacity

Today, food is donated from seven different companies, but the capacity of the food center exceeds the incoming flow of goods and the demand is high.

- On the one hand, we need to get better at communicating to companies the fantastic things we are doing, but we also notice that the internal regulations of the companies are sometimes a bit difficult, says Peder Barrling.

Calling for more donors

Peder Barrling says that the central warehouse in Linköping meets all food traceability requirements and that everything is registered.

- The companies should join hands with us so that we can do something about food poverty.
