On December 3, about 700 dead seals were found on the coast of the Caspian Sea in the Kirovsky district of Makhachkala.
The department said that experts carried out a detailed analysis of animal corpses, which was then sent to laboratories in Moscow and Astrakhan for the purpose of research.
“The main version of the death of the Caspian seal was recognized as natural factors,” the report says.
