It was in October that the home care staff discovered two cameras in an elderly couple's home.

The cameras were set up in the bedroom and in the kitchen/living room and according to the union, it is a relative who installed the cameras to "monitor nursing staff when the relative is dissatisfied with the care of their parents".

- It feels like they don't trust the staff.

They find it unpleasant to be filmed when they are working, that they are not trusted to do their work.

Some of the staff have said that they don't want to go there because of the cameras, says Monica Christensson, protection officer Kommunal.

Monica Christensson says that they are guests in the care recipient's home, but that it is also their work environment.

Svedala municipality does not act

Municipal made a request to the employer, Svedala municipality, demanding that the cameras be taken down immediately.

The municipality's lawyers have looked into the matter and concluded that camera surveillance is permitted in a private home.

The elderly couple has now moved to a short-term accommodation, but in Svedala it is believed that several similar cases will appear.

- This is new for us and there is a chance that it will increase.

We have no legal space to say that this is not ok, but it is the individual's home and we must respect that.

It is clear that it can happen again and then I think it is important that we have a dialogue so that it will be good for the employees and the care recipients, says Leena Berlin Hallrup, social manager in Svedala municipality.

- We are guests in the care recipient's home, but it is also our work environment.

If someone were to set up a camera at your place while you are working.

How would you feel?

, says Monica Christensson.
