The relocation of a significant part of the editorial staff began to be seriously considered by the leadership of the channel after the statements of the Minister of Defense of Latvia, Artis Pabriks, about the need to revoke the permission to stay in the country for Dozhd employees.

“Now our CEO Natalya Sindeeva is consulting with lawyers.

The need for consultations arose after tough statements by Latvian government officials about the possible deprivation of the employees of the TV channel of the residence permit and the revocation of permission to broadcast in the republic, ”said a RT source surrounded by the leadership of Dozhd.

Earlier, the channel's presenter Alexei Korostelev was fired by decision of the leadership after he announced on air that he would help mobilized Russian servicemen with "equipment and simply with basic amenities at the front."

The head of Dozhd's information service, Yekaterina Kotrikadze***, called the anchor's words categorically unacceptable.

According to the interlocutor of RT, if Sindeeva’s negotiations fail, the option of moving to Georgia is being considered - Dozhd already has a studio in Tbilisi, as well as a ready-made technical base.

At the same time, from the financial side, it will not be as costly as transporting the entire team, for example, to Amsterdam, where the TV channel launched a small studio a few months ago, says an RT interlocutor.

The opening of the Dozhdya studio in Amsterdam and the relocation of part of the channel's team there was financed by the Dutch media manager, founder of the Independent Media holding and former publisher of the Vedomosti newspaper Derk Sauer.
