Yesterday, the office of French President Emmanuel Macron said that Macron intends to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, adding that France will help Iraq confront attacks on its sovereignty.

The office added in a statement, after a phone call between the two parties, that Macron had invited the Iraqi prime minister to visit France in early 2023.

France condemned the attacks, which Iran declared directed against Kurdish targets inside Iraq, and called for respect for the security of the autonomous Kurdistan region.

On the other hand, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani announced yesterday his country's participation in the work of the Arab-Chinese summit to be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Al-Sudani said during his meeting with the Chinese ambassador to Baghdad, Cui Wei: "Iraq has adopted the principle of balance in foreign relations, in a way that enhances its stability and achieves the interests of its people and the security of the region."

He stressed «the desire of the Iraqi government to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation with China in various sectors».

For his part, the Chinese ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Chinese leadership to the Prime Minister of Iraq and its keenness to maintain relations of cooperation and partnership with Iraq.

According to the statement, during the meeting, they discussed consolidating bilateral relations between the two countries, and developing them in the economic and cultural fields, as well as in the fields of energy and investment.
