In his address to the minister, Haddad noted that France owns a 23.38% stake (through state-owned investment bank Bpifrance) in satellite telecommunications company Eutelsat.

According to the deputy, this company is “used by Russia” as a tool for the work of “propaganda channels”.

“These TV channels are broadcast on the territory of Russia, as well as in the occupied territories of Ukraine, in North Africa and the Middle East,” the parliamentarian specified.

“Today, amid the conflict in Ukraine, many are concerned that Eutelsat continues to broadcast Russian channels,” he added.

Haddad also asked Colonna what means the state has to combat the spread of "propaganda media" with the help of a company of which it is a shareholder.

On March 2, the European Union banned the broadcasting of the RT channel and the work of the Sputnik agency in the community.

Commenting on the incident, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Moscow is thus deprived of any opportunity to convey its point of view on the events taking place in the world.
