Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed Mikhail Galuzin from the post of ambassador to Japan and appointed him deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Prior to this, Putin appointed Yury Klimenko as the new Russian ambassador to Spain and Andorra.
