The operation of the radio is suspended until further notice, Rimtalba Minister of Communications, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Jean-Emmanuel Ouedraogo, said.

“The report broadcast by RFI on December 3 contained intimidation of the population of Burkina Faso by a terrorist leader,” Burkina 24 quoted him as saying.

Such publications help terrorist groups in their attempts to prevent the mobilization of citizens to restore the integrity of the country, the minister said.

“In view of the foregoing, the government has decided to immediately suspend, until further notice, the broadcasting of Radio France Internationale programs throughout the country,” the communiqué said.
