Fire brigade: According to the deputy chief of the fire department, Thomas Jackel, the Frankfurt fire brigade can compensate for staff shortages.

In the past Corona years, one has learned that it is crucial in which position the colleagues fail.

This becomes particularly clear at the control center: “If 20 employees are absent here, that is a big problem.” On the other hand, 20 absences at the fire and rescue stations are easier to cope with.

If the service cannot be guaranteed, a state of emergency will be declared.

Then the control takes place via the "established crisis team structures".

Employees who have a positive corona test are still asked to isolate themselves.

At least in a professional context, the relaxation of the obligation to isolate does not apply to them.

Hessian state railway:

There is currently no increased sick leave in the group, says a spokeswoman for the Hessian state railway.

That is gratifying, because “if staff should be absent on a large scale, we cannot compensate for that either.” Then special, holiday or weekend timetables would have to be used permanently, as was the case at times at the beginning of the pandemic.

In principle, the Hessian State Railway has come through the Corona period well so far.

The spokeswoman estimates that there were even fewer staff absences due to infections this fall than in the two previous years, and attributes this to the obligation to wear masks.

The Hessische Landesbahn wants to do without the internal isolation requirement and to trust “the common sense” of its employees.

University Clinic Frankfurt:

A spokeswoman for the clinic describes the number of infections and the covid-associated hospitalizations on the wards of Hessian hospitals as “sharp decline”.

This trend is also reflected in the reduced number of sick employees in the university clinic.

If the number of cases increases sharply again, the clinic is prepared.

"But this inevitably leads to a concentration of supply," says the spokeswoman.

Plannable interventions and therapies must then be postponed.

The university hospital cannot do without the isolation obligation for employees, since the state government still prescribes a ban on hospital activities for people who are corona positive.

Energy supplier:

A working group that meets regularly, masks, disinfectants, self-tests and two company doctors who vaccinate against flu and corona: Mainova tries to protect its workforce as best as possible.

A spokesman for the supplier says that one focus is on occupational safety, especially for the power plant crews, the network control centers and the fault clearance service.

"The following still applies: Anyone who can work from home should also use this in consultation with the manager." Süwag Energie AG can also flexibly order protective measures via a crisis management team.

According to a spokeswoman, the company also pays attention to “contactless handover processes in shift work, adjustment of shift schedules and avoidance of mixing of defined groups of people”.

One wants, like the Offenbacher Evo-AG,

Garbage disposal:

"The summer wave has shaken us up quite a bit," says a spokesman for Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH (FES), "because it also coincided with the holiday season." At the moment, flu and corona diseases are not causing any major concerns .

In an emergency, the contingency plans would quickly take effect again.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the FES has not had to restrict any services.

In the event of a massive shortage of staff, the disposal company would work according to priorities, for example according to the proviso: disposal before street cleaning.

The FES does not want to do without the isolation requirement.

Police:

Ensuring operational readiness at all times is the declared goal of the Hessian State Police.

According to the Frankfurt Presidium, staff shortages have so far been compensated, for example by shifting staff within the seven police area headquarters or by forces from the Hessian riot police.

So that the police can continue to get through the infection season well, they have masks, disinfectants and the like ready for their officers.

They can also take advantage of test and vaccination offers, work from home and avoid face-to-face events.

Airport:

"We have been implementing a comprehensive hygiene concept since the beginning of the pandemic in order to protect both passengers in the terminals and employees at their workplaces as best as possible," says a spokesman for Fraport AG.

The protection concept provides, among other things, that employees work from their home office as far as possible.

As far as the obligation to isolate is concerned, Fraport is following the new Hessian rules.

However, there is an urgent recommendation to work from home if possible in the event of a corona infection.
