The accident occurred in connection with an overtaking, and it was a tourist couple from the Netherlands who were hit while cycling outside Tystberga at the end of May.

The woman survived with a fracture and bruises, but her husband was so badly injured that he later died.

Denies crime

The driver has now been charged with causing the death of another, negligence in traffic and causing bodily harm.

During questioning, the man denied the crime but admitted the sequence of events.

The prosecutor believes that when overtaking he took a conscious risk or seriously failed to pay attention, and thus caused the accident.

At the trial, among other things, the deceased cyclist's wife will testify that the man drove the car carelessly and that it caused her husband's death.
