Vladimir Putin noted the importance of supporting servicemen who were seriously injured during a special military operation in Ukraine.

The President spoke about this during a meeting with people with disabilities and representatives of public organizations, which took place on December 2.

"The area of special attention - primarily the authorities at all levels - should now be providing comprehensive support to soldiers and officers who were seriously injured during a special military operation," Putin said.

As the head of state emphasized, these people should be provided “at a modern high-quality level” with everything necessary for medical and social rehabilitation.

“These people are real men, defenders of our country, our heroes – with honor, valiantly performed their military duty.

Now our task is to fulfill our duty to them,” the president said.

It should be noted that on November 21, Putin signed a law that establishes the status of a combat veteran for persons who entered the volunteer formations created by the decision of the state authorities of the Russian Federation, which contribute to the fulfillment of the tasks assigned to the Russian Armed Forces during a special military operation.

“The state does not hush up the problems of people with disabilities”

“And we see that in modern Russia this attitude has changed and continues to change for the better,” Putin said, noting that “society and the state no longer hush up the problems of people with disabilities,” but, on the contrary, pay more and more attention to these topics .

The head of state also added that public organizations and charitable foundations provide enormous support to people with disabilities.

In addition, many people receive grant support, including through the Presidential Grants Fund.

Putin also noted that in order to help people with disabilities, it is necessary to actively use the opportunities that domestic high-tech industries can provide today.

The head of state stressed that modern developments make it possible to mitigate or almost completely compensate for the physical limitations that a person faces.

At the same time, Putin stressed that support for people with disabilities should be tailored to their individual needs.

“We need to act not in general, not abstractly, based on some average indicators, but, of course, to help – in any case, we need to strive for this – to a specific person in his specific personal situation,” the president noted.

Putin stressed that there are 10 million people with disabilities in Russia, including hundreds of thousands of children.

The President said that it is necessary to continue to ensure that everyone who needs support "feels the shoulder of the state."

Employment of people with disabilities

One of the issues discussed at the meeting was the indexation of pensions for working people with disabilities.

The corresponding question was asked by State Duma deputy Oleg Smolin to the head of state.

The parliamentarian asked to index pensions for working people with disabilities.

He also asked that the country support enterprises created not only by individuals with disabilities, but also by all-Russian public organizations.

“We will look at all these issues, we will definitely look.

This is a subtle thing, regarding working disabled people, I understand what you are talking about, in general, I absolutely agree with you in my heart.

We need to work it out at the government level,” the president said.

Along with this, he drew attention to the employment rate among people with disabilities, noting that measures should be taken to improve this result.

“Of course, we must all together make efforts to reduce the number of non-working disabled people ... As for supporting enterprises created by disabled organizations, I also noted for myself.

Let's work," the President stressed.
