White House: Whelan, who is in a Russian colony, reported good health

Kirby confirmed that employees of the US consulate in Russia contacted Whelan, who told them that he was "back in the colony."

“He told the consular staff that he was feeling well,” TASS quoted him as saying. 

Earlier, the PMC of Mordovia announced that US citizen Paul Whelan, who is serving a sentence in a Russian colony on charges of espionage, is undergoing planned treatment.
